Ken 'teach' Aldridge outlasted 1458 other players to win his first bracelet.
He beat Carmen Cavella heads up in a decent heads up battle which last over 3 hours -Aldridge tended to have the upper hand and should have put Cavella away earlier in the battle but choose the tactic of chipping away at Cavella using small ball tactics which ended up being the winning strategy.

Jason Mercier - has won the PLO Event 5 after beating Steve Burkholder heads up - to take his first bracelet at the WSOP this year. He already had an EPT title to his name when he took down the EPT San Remo event back in April 2008 for a cool $1.3m USD.

The $10k Seven-Card Stud World Championship Day 2 was supposed to play down to the final 8 from a starting field of 101 players.That plan went a bit awry when 11 players were still alive at 3am.

The late hour triggered an application of Rule 96 from the 2009 World Series of Poker Tournament Rules.

Rule 96 states that no Day 2 will be required to play past 3am unless the final table is to be broadcast on television or the internet.

So as 7 card stud isn't one of the ESPN broadcasted events the last 11 players were sent to bed last night without knowing which eight would be seated at the final table.
They'll return today on two tables, ready to play all the way down to a champion.

Daniel Negreanu managed to nurse a depleted stack of 9,000 chips 4 hours into the day yesterday and rode it all the way back to 191k chips with a chance to make the final 8.
