50 Joe Hachem (Australia) EPT , WSOP (1 Title) , WSOPE , WPT ( 1 Title)

Love him or hate him he now rates as Australia's top ranking poker player even though other's would argue that players like Mel Judah or Antanas Guoga are better allround players than Hachem.
I cringed watching the coverage of his performance at the WSOP Main Event in 2008 as he bad mouthed some of the amateur players and sucked out badly twice when all in.
The top pro's often berate the play of amateurs but what irks me is that Hachem was an amateur also until his big breakthrough.

Hachem is now one of the most famous poker players in the world who made his big breakthrough at the World Series of Poker whilst still an amateur player. He had been playing many years as an enthusiastic amateur in Melbourne, Australia. His biggest cash before the WSOP in 2005 was under $4k USD before he played well in a smaller event for a cash of $25k USD then going on to win $7.5 million USD in the Main Event.

37 Peter Eastgate (Denmark) WSOP (1 Bracelet), EPT.

Before 2008 Peter was mainly a cash game player. His entry and subsequent last man standing feat of the 'November Nine' has meant that Peter has now shot past Gus Hansen as Denmark's biggest winner. Peter is making up for lost time after his big win and can regularly be seen in the PartyPoker televised leagues. He also managed a respectable 84th at the EPT Caribbean Adventure back in January.

36 Doyle Brunson (USA) WSOP (10 Bracelets), WSOPE, WPT (1 Title).

One of the true legends of poker. He made his way over to Europe to play in the WSOPE events in 2008 and I had the privelage of being on the next table to him in the HORSE event at the Casino at the Empire. He is one of the few pros who has his own site. (see link above). You can also play Todd Brunson, Mike Caro and other famous players. The poker site will likely boom in popularity if the UIGEA bill gets changed in the US and you will see thousands of players getting back to what they like doing particularly as the WSOP starts in a few months.
