I never got a chance to properly update the blog as poker was the last thing on my mind after busting out - yet again - so late on day 1. I lost every early race KK into AQ ( A on turn vs a smallstack) and earlier had lost another chunk Q 10 vs Q 9 - yep a 9 on the turn.Spent the first 3-4 hours sitting next to Julian Thew who was yo-yoing up and down the first few levels.He is a class player though and when short stacked managed to double up every time.
I eventually ended up getting moved to a very young 'internet type' table with Jack Powell (DrFun on Party)and several twenty something's with 30k+ stacks. At this stage I only had 2.5k chips but I managed to double , double again , then double again getting up to nearly 30k chips.
Earlier I had been playing with Chris Moorman's dad (Simon Moorman) - known on some forums as Moorman2. There was a lot of banter going around on who would last longer. The Internet sensation Moorman1 or his Dad Moorman2 who was playing only his second live tournament. Chris had paid his Dad into the event as a birthday treat.
I shared a coke with Moorman2 as the valet had brought a drink for a busted player so was hoping for some of the legendary Moorman outdrawing magic but it never transferred across.
Anyway I can tell you that Moorman2 went on to be the massive chip leader on the final table and took a chop close to £60k GBP when 5 or 6 players were left. Will post more information later.
